Italy is one of the most beautiful places in Europe as it offers a vast variety of landscapes. If you like the nightlife, but you want to enjoy an amazing sea too you should definitely book your next trip to Gallipoli. It is the Italian Ibiza, just cheaper! If you are too classy for clubs and parties, then you might choose to visit some Italian cities such as Rome, Florence or Venice and immerse yourself in art and culture. Or maybe you prefer long walks and natural landscapes, well in that case have a look at the amazing huts that you can find at the lake of Como.

Now that restrictions are easing down and the prospective of a summer abroad is becoming a reality you should hurry up and book your flight to Italy. Haven’t decided which part of Italy yet? Don’t worry because we all know what you really want. Italy is indeed an amazing country but let’s be honest… Italians are even better! They are fun, can cook delicious food and first of all they are very gorgeous!

So, if you’re wandering around the Italian streets and suddenly fall in love with an Italian, why don't you make the first move and introduce yourself? But please do not use google translate, you will sound silly. We all know that it doesn’t work! I made a list of pick up lines that you can use to approach Italians, without cringing them.

Hi! I think you’re really cute, can you give me your number?

If you are speaking with a man: Ciao, sei molto carino. Ti andrebbe di scambiarci i numeri? LISTEN AND REPEAT

If you are speaking with a woman: Ciao, sei molto carina. Ti andrebbe di scambiarci i numeri? LISTEN AND REPEAT

The Italian language makes a distinction between men and women. So, every noun has a ''gender'', for example a chair would be a woman while a bed would be a man. Adjectives follow the same rule, that’s why when you adress a man and you want to say he’s cute you need to use CARINO, with an O. While you call a woman CARINA, with an A. Of course you do not need to remember all these rules, and don’t worry if you make mistakes. Italians will appreciate the effort that took you to learn another language.

I think I'm lost. Where am I and How do I get to (name of the place)?

If the person who is speaking is a man: Penso di essermi perso. Dove mi trovo esattamente e come posso raggiungere (ex. Il Colosseo)? LISTEN AND REPEAT

If the person who is speaking is a woman: Penso di essermi persa Dove mi trove esattamente e come posso raggiungere (ex. Il Colosseo)? LISTEN AND REPEAT

In this case the word ''perso'' changes according to the speaker gender. If you’re a man you would say ''persO'', while women would use ''persA''. This pickup line is probably the best one. Italians are very kind, so all you have to do is look confused and they will probably offer to walk or drive you to the place. And on your way there you can start a conversation and get to know each other.

Hey, can I offer you a drink?

IT: Ciao, posso offrirti da bere? LISTEN AND REPEAT

This question is universal, so yo don’t need to worry if you’re speaking with a man or a woman. This is a good one especially if you’re in a club. If there is something that Italians love is drinking with new people. But please do not order a Spritz if it’s midnight, that cocktail is only allowed during the so called ‘’aperitivo’’, a drink/light meal that takes place at the end of the workday as a kind of warm up to dinner.

Now that you know how to approach Italians, you need to impress them. If there is something that Italians love more than drinking is their food. They are so proud of their cuisine, and pronouncing the name of a dish wrong triggers their patriotic soul. That’s why I will teach you the correct pronunciation of the most iconic Italian foods.

Now you are ready to showcase a perfect Italian accent with your summer love at the restaurant. BUT DO NOT EVER DARE TO ORDER ONE OF THE FOLLOWING DISHES IN A REAL ITALIAN RESTAURANT: spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread, cesar salad, pepperoni pizza and fettuccine Alfredo.

Why? They are just not Italian foods. For some reason people think that they’re typical Italian dishes but it’s impossible to find them in Italy. Italians will probably laugh at you if you order one of those.

Let your hot girl/boy summer in Italy begin, and tell us know in the comments if the advices of our Gen-Z-News Italian editor Adele worked! :)
